I'm So Excited!

My Foma tells me I may just meet my forever family tomorrow!  How exciting is that? I'm not sure if I should run and do zoomies or do my leap and spin moves.  Before I could do either Foma said I needed to tie up some loose ends.  This is my last chance to make sure you know all about me and have seen all of my pictures.

It seems I also need to prove I really can jump into the car.  So today I did it all by myself without a boost from Foma.  Too bad Foma can't get the video clip to work.  You'll just have to take my word for it.  You believe me don't you? Back to cute pictures of me.

Ok that's all I have for now.  You will have to meet me in person to get lots of hugs and kisses.  I headed off to bed to dream about my family.  Maybe you'll dream of me too. I hope I see you tomorrow. Nighty night. Sara Shall Sleep now.

The Land Of All Things Wonderful

Sara here with something really exciting to tell you about.  My Foma took all of us to a magical place last week.  There was everything a dog could ever want and it was all in one place.  Foma called this place PetSmart and I can see why.  Any smart pet would love to hang out in this place.  Oh the sights and the smells! I could barely take it all in as we walked up and down every aisle.  I met a couple other dogs there and they were just as excited as I was.

Ok, so I was a little pushy at first but these smell so good and I don't even know what they are.

Is the stuff down here for us too?  Should I just help myself?

Dolly do you think Foma will get these for us? We can all share.

Foma can we come back here again?  Pretty sure I love this place. Yep, a girl could get use to this.

Do you have one of these smart pet places where you live?  I would love to go do some more shopping and maybe see more of the little animals they keep behind the glass. Foma wouldn't let me get too close to them but they sure looked interesting.  Maybe we could go every day and get a new treat or even a toy.  I could get use to this thing called shopping. Care to join me?

I Won!!!

Since I'm so smart, Foma said she would teach me a few things to impress my new family.   She taught me to sit.  Dolly sits all the time and sometimes she gets yummy treats.  I quickly learned to do it too.  Look at that pretty girl.

Hey I like treats too and anything Dolly can do I can do better.  Foma thinks so too and decided to test the theory.  She wanted to see who could sit and stay the longest.  It was pretty even at first.

Then I got an idea......

Hey Dolly, There's a Squirrel!

And.... she's gone.  I win!!!!  I didn't even blink.

Ok enough of me gloating. This pic is just because Foma says I'm so darn cute.

Retirement Life.

Sara here.  Foma says that I should let you know how well I'm taking to retirement life.  I certainly don't mind bragging for a few minutes.  I really like living in a home.  I'm not afraid of the wood floors and do the stairs all by myself.  I don't get on the furniture even when Foma leaves us all free in the house on Sundays.  I haven't had any accidents in the house or my crate.  I can stay in my crate for at least 8 hours.  I know where to go for outside potties and I'm learning to ring the bells on the back door.

Foma says I'm very confident and I think that's a compliment.  I like to run in the yard with my foster siblings but I will go upstairs and play with toys all by myself.  I'm still working on a couple of things like jumping on the counters to look for my food.  Foma says I'm really smart because I only do it now when no one is in the kitchen.  I know I have to stay outside the kitchen when the humans are in there. I'm told I'll have to give up my counter sniffing all together if I want to get a home.  In that case, I can let that bad habit go.  I'm also learning to jump in the car.  I can jump out great but I still like for Foma to help me get in.  I don't really need her help but don't tell her that.  She says I'll be jumping in by the next adoption event so I guess I should get busy.

Here's a few pics of me.

Wow, if I stand at the top of the stairs, I can see the whole street through those really high windows.

Sometimes I fall asleep with my toys.

My favorite position for sleep and belly rubs.

Watching Foma get ready to leave. Those are my sad eyes.

Life here is ok but I can't wait to have a home of my very own. I'd like to have my own beds and my own food and treats. Most of all I want my very own family to take me for walks, play with me in the yard and rub my belly every night.  I'm working hard to be ready.  Are you?  All you have to do is fill out an application. Oh and pick me up a nice doggy bed and some toys. Some treats would be nice.  Don't worry, I'll make a list.

Going To The Old Country

My Foma took us to Williamsburg last Saturday.  We were suppose to go for a walk through the historic area with a few other hounds and enjoy the beautiful day.  Well that didn't happen. So many people came by to see us and ask questions.  It turned into one big pet and hug fest and I loved every minute of it. I gave lots of people kisses as a thank you.

There was lots of cool things to see.

My foster siblings told me all I needed to do was stand around a look cute.
It was really good advice. I can do that in my sleep.

Bring on the hugs.

Getting Out And About

My Foma kept her promise to take me on outings last week.  Thursday we went to what was called a doggy blood donor night.  It was a bit overwhelming for me when I saw so many greyhounds all in one place.  They all donate blood to help save the lives of other pets. Those folks from BRVBB were really nice and let me give them lots of kisses.  I didn't have to donate that night but maybe my forever family will sign me up so that one day I can donate too.  You can check it out ahead of time at dogsdonateblood.   My fosters siblings said it was no big deal and they got yummy treats. I like the sound of that.

Since I wasn't donating, I got to play outside.  I also got to play with a little dog. At first I followed him everywhere but then I found out he was just a tiny version of me. Foma was awfully particular about that little dog but I'm not sure what the big deal was.

Finally there's better pictures of me.

Be sure to come back and see where else I've been.  Is your adoption application already done? Did you ask for me?  I can't wait to meet you and start our forever life together.   See you later. I'm going to put my next story together.

Playing Is Hard Work

I'm back.  I've been trying to relax and have a little fun with this retirement thing.  My Foma let me come upstairs and play all by myself.  I searched every inch of that room for things that might be toys.  I admit I guessed wrong on a few items but I quickly learned to stick to doggy approved toys.  I collected a few on a bed and then settled down for play time. Foma played with me for a bit but I was just as happy playing by myself. I liked rolling around on my back and trying the crab at toys behind me. It was fun but eventually I got tired.  No need to find another bed. I just stayed like this and went to sleep.

Sara Saying Hi

Hi Everyone.

Sara here.  It's been a while and I thought I should catch everyone up on what's been going on with me.  I was in a very nice foster home where I learned a whole lot about retirement.  I mastered shiny floors, stairs, house training and alone training.  Then it was time to see if I could learn 'Cats'!  Turns out I'm not perfect at everything but I sure had fun trying.

Last weekend I went to meet a few families at an adoption event.  I had a great time meeting people, especially the kids.  Then I was loaded up and sent to a new foster home.  My new foster mom has two houndies of her own and they've been really nice to me.  We get along great.

I've been busy showing my new Foma all the cool stuff I know how to do.  I'm not afraid of anything. I've checked out the whole house including running up the stairs all by my self.  I'm very good with those wood floors too.  I go right in my crate when it's time to eat and I wait politely for my food.  I even slept in my crate the first night to show Foma that I don't get up to potty in the middle of the night.  Now I get to sleep with her and the other hounds in her room on a dog bed.  So far I've only had to show her my wake up skills once.  She told me I don't need to put my paws on the bed to give kisses so now I try to wait until she's ready.  Foma says I get an A+ for kisses.

Foma has taken me out for walks and she says I do really well on the leash.  I don't pull or get spooked by traffic and I'm not afraid to go potty in the special spots.  Foma says I can go with them now in the car to all the fun places she goes with her pups.  She promised to take pictures that I can show everyone.  She's only taken a couple and so far I'm not impressed with her photography skills.

I need her to learn to capture my good side.

That's me checking out my new neighborhood.  I'm really not that wide. You can't tell but that's my foster brother Tapper.  He was a good shoulder to lean on. I'm not going to tell him that Foma cut off his head.   Foma said I didn't need to speak to everyone that passed by but I thought I was being polite and letting them know I was there.  I will work on a better way to say hello because I want all the neighbors to like me.

While I'm working on making new friends, maybe you could fill out an application to be my forever family.  I really want one of my very own.  I'll have Foma work on taking better pictures so I can show you how pretty I am.

Sara Shall see you next time.

Hello everyone.  I'm Sara's foster dad.  I want to tell you all what an amazing, wonderful greyhound Sara is. She's incredibly affectionate, very confident and quite the companion.  She's only been with us a few days, but she's managed to find the ultimate in canine relaxation!

That's her, catching some Z's.

That seems to be her favorite pass-time - one she shares with another of our greyhounds

I'll post more pictures and updates soon.  For now, just know that Sara will make an excellent addition to a forever home!
